A bone spur is a projection of a bone. It may extend into soft tissue.

It is sometimes (but not always) associated with osteoarthritis.[1]

The terms "bone spur" and "osteophyte" are sometimes equated.[2]

Calcaneal spurs are found on the heel.[3]
